Hi again. Thank you all for being there when one needs help!! I'm calling on you once again. When I got this new computer I kept my old one just to play games on. Well, a couple of days ago I installed a new game, and changed the setting to 16 colors. Wrong thing to do!! Now the settings box is so big that I can't get the "Apply" or "OK" buttons high enough to click on them to change it back. The box won't go any smaller, and I can't raise it up any higher. How do I change it back to 16 bit colors - or even 256? It's a Windows 98. Thanks one and all. Erin

Brain strain.
Two ideas for now. Boot into Safe Mode (F8 or Del key during boot) Use the monitor controls to see if you can move things within reach. ~~~~ Another one. You may be able to navigate to the right button using your keyboard. Get to where you are at the Screen Resolution setting and change it to what you want. There should be a dotted box around it indicating it is what is active. Tab key to move the active (dotted) box to each next option. It should move to Color quality > Trouble shoot > Advanced > OK > Cancel > Apply. At the Apply button use your Enter key. I don't recall if 98 has each of these positions so you may have to play.  |

Thanks Homer. I will try that and let you know if it works. We are just running out the door to go to town (in our 1 1/2 feet of snow) and will not be able to try it till we get back. Thanks again. Erin

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Homer!!! I tried the keyboard, tab key and enter and it worked. I won't be trying the 16 color thing again, but now I know how to fix it if I do something stupid like that again. Not impossible with me, for sure! Erin
