Welcome to our board Furpurrs.
I have read that if you use vinegar to wash your glassware it should come off. Also run vinegar through your dishwasher to remove the buildup from hard water. Do you use a product like Jet Dry? That helps stop the build up. ![]() |

Welcome Furpurrs.
That film is caused by hard water buildup. Do as Deb said, use vinegar from time to time. Using a rinse agent will stop the film. |

My dishwasher is shot, and I plan to replace it soon. I have used the Jet-dry type of products, however never thought of the most obvious- vinegar! DOH! Can you see my blondness through the computer? LOL.
Thanks to both of you for the advice, and the warm welcome! |

Vinegar is a wonderful cure-all.
And if that doesn't work my mother in law used bleach in the water to get build up off. Worked great too. Oh.......and Welcome to the Group ! ![]() |

This gives information on various surfaces and it might be the information you want. Example: Porcelain Sinks and Tubs Porcelain can be glazed or unglazed but it can be stained. Most stains are easily removed however. Use the treatments indicated for the following stains: Coffee         Dampen a cloth with water, dip it in baking soda and scrub the mixture over the stain Fruit Juice or Tea         Wash with a solution of 1-tablespoon trisodium phosphate and 1 quart hot water. Rinse, then flood with a solution of 3 tablespoons laundry bleach in 1 quart of warm water. Grease         Scrub using a stiff-bristled brush with a strong solution of heavy-duty household detergent or a solution of cup trisodium phosphate and 1 gallon of very hot water. Hard Water Scum         Scour the area thoroughly with a solution made of equal parts of vinegar and warm water using a nylon scouring pad. Mildew         Sponge with solution of cup laundry bleach in 1 quart water. For stubborn stains use a commercial mildew remover containing sodium hypochlorite and sodium carbonate. (Wear gloves and keep the room well ventilated). Alternatively, Mix a thick paste of household scouring powder and water.

I use to use TSP (trisodium phosphate) to prep walls for painting and also a general cleaner. It's great
I live in an old house and the water lines are metal so I get a lot of rust stainsin the bath tub and toilet. The rust has built up for years and recently I tried a product called Kaboom. It has actually cleaned up some of the rust stains. It is a tad expensive but I was impressed with the rust it did remove. Becareful using it though. I use the powder version and you have to make sure you don't splash it on your clothes and skin. ![]() |

before when we had well hard water I used Iron Out for my laundry. Worked great.
I also had a liquid cleaner but can't remember the name so will have to go to the grocery and look for it to tell you. I used that for sinks, showers, and toilets. Also....type in hard water + iron remover in your search bar and it will pull up all kinds of information. ![]() |

In your dishwasher add a little bleach in your dishwasher once a week or so.. keeps the film off and also keeps tea and coffe stains away...... good luck
