When I am typing on my laptop, it frequently and suddenly jumps back into the middle of the last paragraph. It does this no matter what surface it is on. My previous laptop also did this and I gave it away becasue I thought it needed fixing. Someone suggested I was touching the touchpad but I'm pretty sure that is not always the case. Any ideas?

That's a new one on me.
I'll go for the idea that it's "operator trouble". Grin I suggest trying to come up with something you could cover the touch pad and see what happens. Also as you can run it with a mouse go to your "Help" and see if you could turn off the touch pad. Each of these is just temporary for trouble shooting. |

Can the touchpad not be turned off. Most can. Not sure what kind of Laptop you have but all touchpads operate differently. Depending on the model of touchpad and drivers behind it, you may also click by tapping your finger on the touchpad, and drag with a tap following by a continuous pointing motion (a click-and-a-half). Some touchpads can emulate multiple mouse buttons by either tapping in a special corner of the pad, or by tapping with two or more fingers.
May be nothing more than how you are touching the pad. I never liked using the touchpads and would also suggest you get a mouse. LOL! Good luck to you. |

I know there is a way to turn off the touchpad mouse, but I'm not on my laptop now so I don't remember how. But you only want to do that if you are using a mouse. I actually attach a keyboard and mouse to my work laptop. They have USB connections and the mouse plugs into the keyboard, and the keyboard into the laptop...........

Thanks to all. We'll call it "pilot error" and I'll use a mouse. I guess just a shadow on the touchpad is enough to cause hiccups.
